Ascent Superlight 30L Backpack

The Lowe Alpine Ascent Superlight 30 is the business! If you're a modern alpinist or (like me) want to have the gear in the hope that it will make you rise to the occasion and fulfil the gear's purpose, this is the pack.

Every single fabric meticulously chosen, every design feature refined to the point that you have a fully functional, strong 30L alpine pack with a bunch of features coming in at 540 grams. The TriShield® Superlight fabric obviously has a big part to play in this but one thing you'll notice when you actually try it on is that the harness is comfortable. Weird for a 540g bag I know. But the way they've done it is basically using the same laminate technology that brands like Arc'Teryx use in their lightweight climbing harnesses. Where the outdoor fabric is laminated around a structural core giving a contoured shapes and with the structure going all the way to the edges, without a hard edge stitched edge however.

Add to this an insulated foam frame that can be removed, unfolded and used as a bivvy pad or snow seat. It only folds out long to get either your shoulders or hips on but it would come in very handy for a little shiver bivvy if you're ever unfortunate enough to experience one.

  • Over shoulder rope carrying system
  • Ice axe attachments
  • External zipped lid pocket
  • Internal lid security pocket
  • Key clip
  • Waist belt for stabilising the pack
  • Chest strap
  • Removable frame with foldout bivvy mat
  • Large grab handle for clipping to belays
