La Sportiva was founded in 1928 by Narciso Delladio, who handcrafted wooden and leather boots for lumberjacks and farmers in the Fassa and Fiemme valleys of the Dolomites, Italy. After World War II, increased demand for boots prompted Narciso to hire additional workers, and the reputation of "Calzoleria Sportiva" spread beyond the local valleys. Building on this success, La Sportiva continued to grow and evolve.
Today, the company manufactures boots and shoes in the Fiemme Valley for a wide range of outdoor activities, including climbing and mountaineering—categories in which La Sportiva holds market leadership—as well as mountain running, trekking, and the ski mountaineering market. Recently, the company expanded into the ski mountaineering segment and the apparel market, offering a complete selection of technical clothing for running, ski mountaineering, and climbing.
